Meet our Scientific Advisory Board

As part of PhytoPharmica's serious commitment to quality, the company has established a Scientific Advisory Board, which mirrors many of the boards created by pharmaceutical companies.

The board, established about a year ago, consists of seven carefully chosen individuals selected for their areas of expertise, advanced level of knowledge and training in their fields of medicine, participation in research relating to natural medicine products, and respected reputations. The board was formed to assist PhytoPharmica in three key areas:

  • developing new products.
  • establishing new clinical research on products.
  • answering technical questions.

Members include:

Michael T. Murray, N.D.
Graduate, faculty member, and member of the Board of Trustees for Bastyr University. Maintains a private medical practice and is the author of more than 20 books.

Expertise: Natural alternatives to over-the-counter and prescription medicines.

A.K.M. Shamsuddin, M.D., Ph.D.
Professor of pathology, University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, Md.

Expertise: Cancer research, including carcinogenesis, markers of precancer and cancer, cancer chemoprevention, regulation of cell growth and differentiation, inositol phosphates.

Jidong Sun, Ph.D.
Clinical research scientist, PhytoPharmica.

Expertise: Antioxidants and designing of clinical research programs.

 

Varro Tyler, Ph.D.
Dean emeritus, school of pharmacy and pharmacal sciences, Purdue University

Expertise: Herbal medicines and pharmacognosy.

 

Charles Weeks, Ph.D.
Director of technology, Kellogg Company. Past positions include senior research and product development for 3M Pharmaceuticals as well as Novartis Nutrition.

Expertise: The immune system, cancer research, the cardiovascular system, and diabetes. Involved in research and clinical safety assessments for 7-Keto.
